Great Bishops for Our Times!

We used to have a saying in the news business; "never let the facts get in the way of a good story."  Those were the good 'ole days when facts still mattered.  That was when this sarcastic line was meant for the "sensational and irresponsible" media types who would do or say anything to get the lead story.  It was all about them.  Unfortunately, with today's media this is now much more the norm than the exception.  The media are more than ever all about their own ideology or agenda ,and at the top of their priority list is making the Church look bad.  This is now standard operating procedure.  It's insults, not information, and the truth is completely lost.

Teresa Interviewed by National Review Online!

Do any women actually believe the Catholic Church’s teaching on “reproductive health,” as contraception and abortion are euphemistically referred to? How could such things even be healthy? Teresa Tomeo, the author of Extreme Makeover: Women Transformed by Christ, Not Conformed to the Culture, shares some thoughts on these matters with National Review Online’s Kathryn Jean Lopez. HHS Action Plan!

Let's thank EWTN for taken a very strong stand in fighting the HHS mandate and the alleged "compromise" offered by the Obama administration.

EWTN was the first to file suit against the Department of Health and Human Services in its attempt to force religious institutions to cover contraception, abortion inducing drugs, and sterilization in their health-care plans.  Thanks also go out to Priests for Life for also filing suit, and to Ave Maria Radio for its great www.stophhs.com web site which so far as received over 40 thousand signatures!

Teresa Not Surprised at Komen Reversal...

Komen, Planned ParenthoodSusan G. Komen for the Cure announced on the morning of Feb. 3 that it is amending its funding guidelines so that only those organizations under criminal investigation will be excluded, a move that could allow Planned Parenthood funding to be restored.

“I am surprised that it happened so fast, but not that it happened,” nationally syndicated EWTN radio host Teresa Tomeo told CNA. Read More Here..

Komen Flip-Flop a Messy Reminder

When Komen first made its announcement that they would no longer be giving grants to Planned Parenthood, I saw red or shall I say, pink flags all over this story.  There is an old saying: if it is too good to be true, then it probably is. And this is the case with Komen and the world's leading abortion provider.

The Day After the March

Wouldn't you know it? Woke up this morning in D.C to sunny skies and temps already in the  upper 40's.  That's okay pro-lifers braved the rain and snow yesterday and came here by the hundreds of thousands.   And as I said on my program this morning when you take part in this event you always walk away with the assurance that this movement is in very good hands. We can handle a lot more than bad weather.  We're on a mission to save lives.

I think of all the young pro-life warriors I meet at this gathering each year. Lila Rose of www.liveaction.org  tops the list as a dynamic person taking on Planned Parenthood through the new media.  Then there is Maria Cahill, Miss Deleward, another strong young Catholic woman who is using her platform to promote the pro-life message.  There were the groups that traveled across the ocean to get here including an Italian contingency, all men by the way, which I though was quite interesting, who are planning a pro-life March in Rome this spring.  Everywhere you looked along Constitution Avenue there was a different story of people and their passion for the most important issue of our day: life.  Yes, the pro-life cause gets knocked down. But we always get up again and again and again.  Yesterday was proof of that.

Shrine Times and EWTN Readies for March Tomorrow!

It is great to be back in D.C. to see how strong and vibrant the pro-life movement is.  We had a fantastic afternoon at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for the Ignatius Press book signing with Fr. Robert Spitzer and myself. Then it was off to the Hyatt for the Youth Rally.  The event organized by Bryan Kemper, the director of Youth Outreach for Priests for Life, with more than 1400 young people in attendance.  About 16 pro abortion supporters showed up and tried to disrupt the event, but the young people responded with prayer.  Hotel security came and told the protestors they could stay only if they sat down and listened to the presentations and did not disrupt the gathering.  Otherwise, they had to leave.  They left and the conference went on, closing with the powerful testimony of several women and men from the Silent No More Awareness campaign.

Today I had another book signing at the Shrine and then I mt up with the EWTN crew for a test run for tomorrow's marathon live broadcast.  I have a feeling the March is going to be even bigger than last year given the current political climate and the recent and very frightening decision from HHS issued Friday afternoon.  Pray for our crew and pray for all those taking part in the March.

Goodbye Cosmo Girl! One Can Only Hope.

Check out this cool website www.projectinspired.com.   It was born out of an idea from a young model who also happens to be a Christian sister. She is fed up with what the secular media are handing us in terms of what they are marketing to young girls as well as how they are using younger and younger models and actresses to sell their product. She is also all for looking our best, but doing so with modesty. Amen sister! Her name is Nicole Weider and currently she is targeting Cosmo Magazine and she already has received 10,000 signatures for her petition drawing attention to the very inappropriate, and for the most part, pornographic content and over-sexualized images and headlines on its cover.
