Take It From Teresa

A short description about your blog

Okay ladies. Here is a question for you; how many of you Moms felt a bit guilty about being waited on this past weekend? Even though it was Mother's Day, a day to honor your love and all the sacrifices you make for family, I am guessing that many of you were thinking that you should be doing something for someone else.  It is in our nature to want to always nurture, but we need to also take care of ourselves and allow ourselves to be cared for first and foremost by God.  That's what our new book is all about.

God Created Mothers

256px-Fra Filippo Lippi-Maria mit dem KindeHappy Mothers day to all the Moms out there, whether you’re a physical Mom or spiritual Mom, this is your weekend so enjoy. On the air today I shared one of my favorite Mother’s Day reflections by Erma Bombeck. Many people don’t know that this great writer was a convert to Catholicism and a devout Catholic. Her sense of humor and her insights to real life provided readers with countless blessings. This particular column from May 12th of 1974, in honor of Mother’s and Mother’s Day will bring tears to your eyes. Enjoy.  T.

Christians in the Holy Land

I’ve been super busy since returning from our Holy Land pilgrimage. Since coming home I have been thinking a lot about the plight of Christians in the Middle East particularly in Palestine. Mt taborThat’s why I am hoping you will take the time to watch an excellent story that aired on 60 Minutes, Sunday April 22nd, “Christians of the Holy Land”.   As I say in my books and talks we need to contact the media about what we don’t like as well as give them encouragement when they do a well balanced story that can make a difference. This was definitely the case with this recent piece from Bob Simon. And all the more reason you should consider taking a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The Christian population there is dwindling and is now at less than 2% of the population. This is so sad and shameful that it is happening in the land of Jesus.

Shalom! T.

Leavng JaffaWell, Janet Morana and I have certainly settled into the Holy Land! From Jaffa to the Golan Heights and beautiful Caesarea Philippi we are truly being blessed by walking where Christ walked.  I would love for you to walk with us, at least in spirit.  I have been posting our photos on my Facebook page so you can experience it with us.  Pray for Janet, I, and our whole group as our pilgrimage continues through the Holy Land.

Shalom! - T

Starving for a Wedding

Feedingtube

I try to keep my eye on the news web sites, both secular and Christian, throughout my work day including the time spent on the air.  I believe it's important to have a handle on what's happening in the world and to relay interesting and timely stories.  Well imagine my sadness last week when I shared a shocking story that was posted on Good Morning America's web site.  It was a real statement on how obsessed we have become with our appearance and the lengths some people will go to in order to measure up to an image on Reality TV or in a magazine.  It was and article about the new ""K-E Diet" which involves using a feeding tube in order to shed 10 to 20 pounds.  The article pointed out that the diet has become extremely popular with brides wanting to be thin for their wedding day.

TEST - Church of Holy SepulchreWell, I am off to the Holy Land again.  I haven't been back in two years so I am really excited.  I am co-hosting this trip with my dear friends Steve and Janet Ray (www.catholicconvert.com) and Janet Morana from Priests for Life  (www.priestsforlife.org)  Janet, of course, is also my co-host of The Catholic View for Women.  Please pray for safe travel and a fruitful pilgrimage as we take 80 pilgrims from across the United States through the land of our Lord, Our Blessed Mother, and the Apostles.  There is nothing like walking in the footsteps of Jesus, and no matter how many times I go, I have a desire to return.  I hope you stay tuned to Catholic radio all next week as I will be calling in live reports during my show, the Sunrise Morning Show, and other programs and sharing the experience of pilgrimage with all of the radio listeners.

I also encourage visiting the following web sites to keep tabs on our travels:

A big thanks to Marge Fenelon and the Register for doing a great job of describing our Catholic View for Women series on EWTN!  Marge interviewed me and my co-hosts last month when we were taping 13 new episodes of the program.  I think Marge did a fantastic job of capturing the chemistry and the energy on set.  In the next series (air date to be announced) we did our best to address some of the topics suggested by our viewers including: marriage and Catholic weddings, miscarriage, women leaders in the Church, and the single life.  Check out the article in the Register and also stay tuned to my web site and www.thecatholicviewforwomen.com for the latest updates and news on the show schedule.

Ciao! - T

Holy Week

Holy Week is almost here.  How will you spend it?  That may seem like a silly question to ask.  You no doubt will be taking part in all of the beautiful liturgical events provided by the Church on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.  You are also probably busy, especially if you have children, filling Easter baskets and picking out the perfect outfit to wear for Easter Sunday Mass.  Easter Sunday dinner is also a special time of great food and fellowship.  My Mom has already made dozens of homemade Raviolis.  She will be baking the Italian Easter Bread over the next few days and I will be making my tomato sauce this week.

Stand Up For Religious Freedom!

FtLaudRallyHow excited I was to hear that over 20,000 people attended 140 rallies today across the country to “Stand up for Religious Freedom.”  I am in California and gave a talk today, so I wasn’t able to attend but I applaud and cheer on all those that did – including one of my team members of Teresa Tomeo Communications, Palma, who attended the Fort Lauderdale Rally today and shared how invigorating it was…
