When Komen first made its announcement that they would no longer be giving grants to Planned Parenthood, I saw red or shall I say, pink flags all over this story. There is an old saying: if it is too good to be true, then it probably is. And this is the case with Komen and the world's leading abortion provider.

It's interesting that the obvious reversal announced Friday came from public and political pressure. Now Komen is making a very bad situation even worse by claiming this is just a "clarification" and not a reversal. Sure, and I'm the new Queen of England. Some in the pro- life movement who jumped right away on the Komen band wagon are trying to claim the same thing. But the statement on Komen's web site speaks of a reversal in their decision.
"We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair."
To make a long story short, they caved to the political and public pressured initiated by Planned Parenthood and by scared politicians who were worried about losing donations.
The current messy confusion regarding the relationship between Komen and Planned Parenthood is a reminder of how crucial it is to stop and think before pledging financial support to any organization. What's most upsetting is to see Komen actually apologizing to the American public for Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, an organization that doesn't even offer mammograms in the first place, only referrals, an organization that is under investigation by congress, and an organization that has a long list of issues too many to mention. The entire situation is outrageous and in the end women continue to be hurt. Women are not getting the full story from Komen, especially not from Planned Parenthood regarding the connection between abortion and the increased risk in breast cancer and cancer risks associated with oral contraceptives.
I am hoping pro-lifers will learn a valuable lesson here to educate themselves and others before rushing to donate to an organization.
As for me, I will continue to support and promote organizations that are truly pro-life and give women all of the information about breast cancer risks. Here are some of my favorites.

Certainly you're not so barbaric to believe that killing people is the answer to our tax problems. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that no one is that cruel and cold. But that is actually what you are saying. Maybe you never thought of adoption. That's a win win for everyone; the mother can avoid the horrible experience of an abortion, the child gets to live, the father knows his child has life, and a family embraces a child all without costing us a dime. Everybody wins.
Also I am surprised that you are not aware of the hundreds of millions of tax dollars given to Planned Parenthood each year; to the tune of 300 million dollars in federal dollars. Regarding welfare, it is actually the Pregnancy Resource Centers who help the women who choose life. These centers don't accept any government handouts, help those in need with food, clothing, shelter, and parenting classes, etc. So no taxes dollars wasted there. I also wonder if you might be willing to look at what some who have experienced abortion have to say about it. Here is a great web site: www.silentnomoreawareness.org And speaking of tax dollars, you might be interested to know how much the fallout of abortion is costing us in terms of the long list of medical and psychological issues directly tied to post abortive men and women. Here is another great web site www.afterabortion.org
Thanks and God bless you and I am again I am hoping and praying that you really don't believe that killing people is the answer to our economic problems and that you really do believer in real choice for all involved and impacted by a major decision.

BTW; The quote above is if is sounds too good to be true IT IS NOT TRUE, not the opposite. Everything needs to be read, parsed and thought through. Relying on sound bites when the commentators can rattle on is asking for confusion.

I used to believe in "My body, my choice." Years ago. And I realized today that particular motto is a lie, a misnomer. If a woman wants to damage her own body or to kill herself, that may be tragic, but it's not only her body we're talking about here. She's not so much harming her body, as the body of another person now living inside her. My rights end when they infringe on the rights of another, including a person's right to continue to exist on this planet.
